Gum Disease

Gum disease is an extremely common condition in most adults where the gums become swollen or infected due to a build up of plaque on the surface of the teeth.

At Confidental Clinic Greenwich, we like to express the importance of maintaining oral health and hygiene. Should you suffer from gingivitis or gum disease, we have a highly trained team of dentists who are pleased to offer treatments.

Gingivitis / Bleeding Gums

Gingivitis is caused when the gums become inflamed because of a build up of plaque. If left untreated, this could lead to gum disease so it is best to treat gingivitis as soon as possible. Please book an appointment with one of our Dental Hygienists if you require treatment.

Gingivitis can progress to:

  • Infections
  • Bad breath
  • Periodontitis (gum disease)

Periodontal Disease / Gum Disease

Bacteria in our mouths form a sticky substance called plaque, causing gum disease (also known as periodontitis).

Preventing periodontitis can be as simple as brushing and flossing daily and visiting your hygienist on a regular basis.

Symptoms of periodontitis include:

  • Swollen and sore gums
  • Bleeding gums
  • Bad breath
  • Gum abscesses

Visiting the Hygienist

Whether you have gum disease or not, preventing or reducing it depends on how well you take care of your teeth.

You should aim to visit your hygienist every 3-12 months for cleaning. If you have gum disease, more frequent visits may be required. We also offer Prophy Jet treatments, leaving you with whiter teeth by removing any stains.

If you would like to visit one of our highly trained Dental Hygienists, please contact our practice and we will be happy to arrange an appointment for you.
