What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers include a product naturally found in our body called Hyaluronic Acid, giving our skin elasticity and smoothness. Unfortunately, as we age our body contains less Hyaluronic Acid, leaving our skin with a less youthful looking appearance. The aim of dermal fillers is to rehydrate the skin and smooth out wrinkles by returning the Hyaluronic Acid back into the body.
It is necessary to have a consultation before treatment, which will also allow you to meet your Cosmetic Dentist. As there is a range of available dermal fillers, each used for specific areas, the Cosmetic Dentist will see which ones are best suited to you.
Will treatment be painful?
Although the procedure will not be painful, the more sensitive areas being treated may be a little uncomfortable. Patients may experience slight bruising and swelling after treatment, however this should disappear within a couple of days. Visible results are shown immediately after treatment but are most visible after swelling has gone down (if any) a few days after treatment. The effects can last up to 12-18 months. Due to the use of natural Hyaluronic Acid in Dermal Fillers, there are no long-term effects.
Who can have Dermal Fillers?
All adults can have dermal fillers except pregnant women and those breast-feeding.
