At the Confidental Clinic in Greenwich, we are perhaps best known for our general and cosmetic dental procedures that help patients towards a healthy mouth and a great smile. What is perhaps less well known is that we also have a dedicated team of facial aesthetics practitioners who can help to ease the lines and wrinkles on your face, leaving you with a younger appearance.
Despite some of the negative press you may have read of extreme changes in appearance by some celebrities who have had cosmetic facial improvements, this simply will not happen at our Greenwich practice and a gentle and sensible approach will ensure that you have a natural, but younger looking appearance following your procedure.
Treatments
There are essentially two types of anti-wrinkle treatments available at the Confidental Clinic. These are Botox and Dermal Fillers. Although both of these are administered in a similar manner, each has a specific role to play.
Botox
Botox works by relaxing the muscles that cause lines and wrinkles to appear on your face. By temporarily relaxing these muscles, your skin will gradually become smoother as the wrinkles start to disappear. It is especially efficient at treating Crow’s Feet, those wrinkles which appear at the side of our eyes as we get older.
Dermal fillers
Dermal fillers are used to replace or supplement hyaluronic acid which is naturally produced by our bodies. When this starts to reduce we often find that certain features such as our lips and cheeks become thinner and less plump. By injecting dermal fillers into these areas, we can improve the appearance of your lips and cheeks and restore your natural appearance once more.
Procedure
Initially, you will be invited to our Greenwich practice for an initial consultation where we will discuss your aims and expectations. Whilst facial aesthetic treatments are perfectly safe for the majority of people, it is important that we check that you are not pregnant or breastfeeding or have other health conditions which may make this procedure unsuitable for you.
To perform the procedure, the Botox or dermal fillers are injected just under the surface of the skin using a very fine needle. This is not a painful procedure but you may feel a sharp ‘pricking’ as the needle enters the skin. There may also be some localised bruising soon after, but this will soon go. The results of this treatment are usually seen around a week to ten days after the procedure and should last for a number of months. The treatment may be repeated as desired.
